With demonstrations and practical activities, WTESTBEDS 2024 presents national and international experiences
The third edition of the Testbeds Workshop (WTESTBEDS 2024), a satellite event of the Brazilian Computer Society Congress - CSBC 2024, was held on July 24th and 25th in Brasília. The RNP initiative offers a space for dissemination and debate on the testbeds available in Brazil and abroad, in addition to inspiring teachers, students and researchers to evaluate how these infrastructures for experimentation can contribute to experimental research in ICTs.
The event has been held since 2016, previously under the name WFIBER. This year's WTESTBEDS featured the Executive Director of the Commonwealth Cyber Initiative (CCI) and Professor of Cybersecurity at Virginia Tech, Luiz DaSilva, as its keynote speaker. Making his debut at WTESTBEDS, the professor highlighted the importance of exchanging experiences in a space like this event.
"This type of integration and collaboration is vital, because not everyone can develop a research infrastructure independently and only for their own use. I believe that the more we use each other's equipment, the better, more efficient and we can do more things”, said Luiz DaSilva, who presented what is being done in terms of testbeds at the Commonwealth Cyber Initiative (CCI). "It is vital for collaboration that people get to know each other. I think that is the first step. Here, we met many people with common interests and learned about some opportunities and infrastructure that is available to academia as a whole."
