RNP is present at Blockchain Rio with ILÍADA Project

For the third consecutive year, RNP was present at the BlockchainRio event. The deputy director of e-Science, Leandro Ciuffo, and senior analyst Luiz Folly, presented the panel “Public Financing: MCTI and the Ilíada case”, on the afternoon of July 25th, at the BNDES BlockchainGOV space.

The panel presented the project, its main milestones and the technologies that will be used. In addition to the public call for Research and Development in technological components to evolve the scalability, security, ease of use and functionalities of blockchain network testbeds (closed on July 25), a call for startups and university research groups for R&D in blockchain applications is planned.

At the end of the exhibition, participants were able to access a form to contribute to the construction of the National Blockchain Observatory, which will be launched at the end of 2024 and aims to map and bring together initiatives from the academic, business, government and education sectors. The form is still available for contributions and can be accessed at this link

With an investment of R$23 million, the initiative is a partnership between RNP (National Education and Research Network) and CPQD (Telecommunications Research and Development Center). The project was supported by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, with resources from Law No. 8,248 of October 23, 1991, within the scope of PPI-SOFTEX, coordinated by Softex. The goal is to create a laboratory that will conduct studies on the use of blockchain and how the technology can be applied in the Brazilian context.
