On May 11th, another circuit was activated in the Brazilian academic network, the Ipê network, connecting RNP's Points of Presence in the states of Bahia and Pernambuco. The new circuit is provided by Telebras and it is part of the Technical Cooperation Agreement signed between RNP and the operator.

The 10 Gbps connection is expected to further increase the availability of PoPs connected to the so-called North-Northeast Ring, also facilitating the flow of traffic in these two regions to the Southeast and the South, which improves the network's redundancy and availability overall.

The RNP's Points of Presence in the two states are located in the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) in Salvador and the Association Pernambuco State Technological Institute (ITEP) in Recife.
