Nordeste Conectado Program
The Nordeste Conectado Program is an initiative of the Ministry of Communications (MCom) to promote the expansion and internalization of high-speed networks in the Northeast Region.
RNP's role
RNP is executing the first phase of the Program, which consists of the expansion and internalization of the infrastructure of the national academic network, and the construction of metropolitan networks in 20 cities in the interior of the Northeast. With this, it directly benefits students, professors and researchers from federal universities, federal institutes and research units in these locations, who will be able to connect to other institutions in Brazil and in the world.
About the Wi-Fi in Squares project
Wi-Fi access points will be installed in up to two public squares in each of the hub cities of the Wi-Fi in Squares Project, for free access by the population, thus fostering the local economy and development. With the establishment of partnerships, it is possible to reach another 77 cities in the Northeast in the next four years.
