Directors from Latin America universities meet in Buenos Aires for TICAL 2016
Between September 13 and 15, the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) directors from Latin America universities will be together in the sixth TICAL conference edition, that took place in Buenos Aires this year. The purpose is to promote a space for exchange of knowledge and experience, in order to establish connections between the institutions and encourage collaboration between different countries.
As in previous years, the TICAL sessions will be carried out in live streaming, the five main of which will be conducted by international guests: Olaf Kolkman (Netherlands), Silvio Meira (Brazil), Maria Elena Chan (Mexico), Antonio Rivas (Brazil) and Marc Hoit (United States).
In addition to the main schedule, Tical 2016 will also provide parallel workshops, which will present the papers selected by the program committee. In total, 163 papers were submitted to be part of the conference and 49 of them were selected. Ecuador was the country that had most proposals chosen to integrate the program, with nine papers.
According to the president of Tical program’s committee and researcher of Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Jussara Musse, each year the Tical grows in importance and receiving greater participation of universities. “We want all colleagues to participate in the Tical to expand their network of relationships, meet new experiences and enjoy Buenos Aires”, she says.
