Registration open for the Hackers do Bem program
The largest free cybersecurity training program is now open for registration. Hackers do Bem will train 30,000 professionals to work in cybersecurity in the country. With resources from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), within Softex's PPI (Priority Program in Informatics), the initiative is carried out by the National Education and Research Network (RNP) in partnership with Senai-SP. Amid digital transformation and increased demand for cybersecurity, the program aims to address the shortage of professionals in the area. Data from the Cybersecurity Ventures report, for example, estimates the total number of unfilled cybersecurity positions worldwide by 2025 at 3.5 million.
“We have several studies that show that we have a shortage of professionals. The projection is scary. This area of cybersecurity is fundamental to digital transformation. And along with this transformation come the risks and problems of use”, says the director of Research, Development and Innovation at RNP, Iara Machado.
Hackers do Bem's proposal is to create alternatives to this scenario, in order to meet both the demand of professionals for qualifications and the demand of companies for information security.
How Hackers do Bem works
The target audience for the initiative is technical, secondary and higher education students. In practice, the program is aimed both at those looking for a new career and want to learn about technology from scratch and at those who already have initial experience and plan to specialize in the area.
Hackers do Bem is made up of five training modules or “tracks”: leveling, basic, fundamental, specialization and residency (in-person). The training involves online classes and interactive activities, structured by the Escola Superior de Redes (ESR). Throughout the program, there will also be support from experts in the sector.
Access to online courses will be released on January 22nd. The forecast is that complete training for those who decide to take all the modules will end by the end of 2025. At each stage, the student can have access to certificates to prove their training and, with this, have new opportunities in the job market.
“The program has several stages, and delivers people to the market with various levels of qualification. It is a 100% free training, free of charge. What you need is to have time to dedicate yourself, monitor yourself and exercise. This opens a door for many people who want to enter the career,” says Machado.
The initiative also has other focuses. One of the plans is to build a national cybersecurity hub, a type of network that brings together professionals trained in the area.
“We are still in the process of building this hub, but the idea is that people can join together in a network with interested companies. This hub can also be used in the future to provide sustainability to Hackers do Bem, through a public-private partnership, for example”, explains the director.
