RNP and UFSC will present work on digital certification in TICAL2021
The National Education and Research Network (RNP) had a paper accepted in the call for papers for the TICAL Conference, which brings together the community of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in Latin America. This year, the event will be hosted online between 31/08 and 02/09 and will cover the topic "Rethinking universities driven by digital technologies".
The paper, written in collaboration with the IT staff of the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), talks about the solution developed to create electronic documents digitally signed using certificates of Public Key Infrastructure for Education and Research (ICPEdu). The ICPEdu certificate is an advanced electronic signature, i.e., it has legal validity and a high degree of trust.
UFSC was a key institution in the development of the service because it combined the incorporation of the personal certificates of ICPEdu with an internal project of digital transformation, whose objective was to eliminate the use of paper in internal administrative procedures. In addition, the university also developed software to implement the electronic signing of documents using the new certificate, the assin@UFSC.
According to the IT staff of UFSC, since the beginning of this year, over 10,000 digital certificates have already been issued, enabling the electronic signing of over half a million electronic documents at the university.
The Personal Certificate of ICPEdu is also one of the technologies adopted by the National Program of Digital Certificates for the Federal Network of Education of the Ministry of Education in Brazil, launched in March 2021. It is estimated that the program will benefit 2.5 million people in the academic environment.
For an institution to have access to this new service, they need to be a member of the Federated Academic Community (CAFe) and complete the registration process. To register, please contact us at atendimento@rnp.br or 08007220216.
