RNP, CNPq, and IBICT publish the results of the call for incubation of research data repositories
After the publishing of an open call inviting Brazilian research institutions to deploy institutional research data repositories, the National Education and Research Network (RNP), the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), and the Brazilian Institute of Information in Science and Technology (IBICT) announce the results of the call.
Of the 13 proposals received, four institutions were selected:
- Federal University of Ceará (UFC)
- Rural Federal University of Amazônia (UFRA)
- Brazilian Research Center on Physics (CBPF)
- Federal University of Goiás (UFG)
The institutions will receive support in creating their research data repositories, through training and knowledge transfer initiatives, during an incubation period of nine months. The learning should benefit those institutions as a whole, in particular the education and research libraries, who are the target of the call.
About the three-party agreement for Open Science
The initiative arose from the previously existing cooperation between IBICT and RNP in the context of Commitment 3 of the 4th National Plan of Action for Open Government, which aimed at establishing mechanisms for the advancement of Open Science in Brazil and sharing of scientific data.
Since 2017, RNP has had a cooperation agreement with IBICT for R&D activities and, in recent years, has been working together on activities of the 4th national plan of action (OGP). The idea now is to join forces with CNPq, which is also structuring its repository of research data. The agreement will also have advisory support from the Faculty of Librarianship and Communication of UFRGS through the GT-RDP team.
