RNP completes delivery of Multipresence in two units of Embrapa
RNP completed the delivery of Multipresence in two units of the Brazilian Agricultural Research Company (Embrapa) - a conference room at Embrapa Agrobiologia (CNPAB), in Seropédica, Rio de Janeiro, and an auditorium at Embrapa Sede, in Brasília. The action is part of the work plan contracted through the 12th Amendment to the Management Agreement and was executed by the Deputy Director of Solutions Management (DAGSol) in partnership with the Research and Development Board (DPD).
"The participation of Embrapa in this development cycle allows the experimentation and implementation of improvements before the transition from service to production. Thus, when multipresence is made available in the portfolio, we will be able to offer more benefits to the RNP user institutions", says Daniele Sodré, Business Analyst at RNP.
From now on, Embrapa has an experimental service that allows the performance of conferences through multiple devices and high resolution (4K). A characteristic of the service is flexibility, since communication can be done despite the device used (desktop, mobile devices such as cell phones and tablets, etc.) and with no user limit. In addition, the cost of deployment and maintenance is also low, especially when compared to a traditional videoconferencing infrastructure.
"We’ve learned about the multipresence in RNP events. Embrapa, as a large company geographically distributed in all regions of Brazil, is aware that maintaining a videoconferencing infrastructure with quality and performance is very costly. When we received the invitation to participate in the project, we were very excited because, at first, it was a way to strengthen the partnership with RNP and, secondly, a way to avoid dependence on the videoconferencing market. The partnership generated savings for Embrapa, through a solution that is cost-effective and often has a superior quality. These were the main motivators of this project", says Embrapa IT supervisor Rommel Teodoro de Oliveira.
The acceptance of the Multipresence experimental service implementation in the Embrapa Agrobiologia unit occurred in March and that of Embrapa Sede in June. The longer deadline in the auditorium deployment with 60 seats in Brasilia occurred due to the complexity of the delivery.
"Embrapa Sede received the first Multipresence deployment in an auditorium. There were several challenges for the staff, who usually worked with dedicated equipment for conventional videoconference rooms. In addition to the diversity of equipment, the connections used to share resources such as microphones, speakers and cameras, between Multipresence and local presentations in the auditorium, or traditional videoconferencing calls were a challenge for all teams involved. Despite the difficulties, it was a learning opportunity for the Multipresence project that will be very well used in the next facilities", explained the Technical Manager of GT-Multipresence, Guilherme Longoni.
