RNP participates in the 70th annual SBPC meeting in Maceió
Between the 22nd and the 28th, the Brazilian National Research and Educational Network (RNP) participated in the 70th annual meeting of the Brazilian Society for the Advancement of Science (SBPC), at the Federal University of Alagoas (Ufal), in Maceió. With the theme "Science, Social Responsibility and Sovereignty", the event gathered over 12,000 visitors.
RNP had a booth at the ExpoT&C, a science, technology and innovation show that brings together hundreds of exhibitors, including universities, research institutes, development agencies, government agencies, the business sector and other organizations interested in introducing new technologies, products and services.
In this space, researchers from the Remote Experimentation Laboratory (RExLab) of the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) performed demonstrations with the RELLE platform, which creates remote laboratories for experiments in areas such as physics, biology and robotics.
The platform aims at enhancing students' learning in and outside the classroom, and it resulted from the Mobile Remote Experimentation Working Group (GT-MRE), one of the participants in the RNP R&D Programs. "Visitors were able to see how a remote experiment works and how the interaction between the lab and the user occurs", explained RExLab researcher Lucas Mellos.
On July 23rd, the challenges for the consolidation of the social organizations model were the theme of the round-table discussion that brought together the director of Services and Solutions of RNP, José Luiz Ribeiro Filho; the former Minister of CT&I Marco Antonio Raupp, current director of the Technological Park of São José dos Campos; the director of the National Synchrotron Light Laboratory (LNLS), José Roque da Silva; the attorney Rubens Naves; and the president of the Center for Management and Strategic Studies (CGEE), Márcio Miranda, at the Ufal School of Medicine.
On July 24th, RNP R&D director Iara Machado spoke at the MCTIC pavilion at the ExpoT&C and presented the topic Cyberinfrastructure for Science with the resources and services offered by RNP supporting the research, such as the experimentation environment Fibre, for education of networks and new internet architectures.
