RNP presents Digital Diploma at Blockchain Rio Festival
The National Education and Research Network (RNP) presented the Digital Diploma service as a potential use case for the Brazil Blockchain Network (RBB) in the “Blockchain Gov” track of the Blockchain Rio Festival event, held between the 12th and 14th September in Rio de Janeiro. The event brings together the technology, innovation and business ecosystem to discuss topics related to Blockchain, Web3, Artificial Intelligence, IOT, Startups, Entrepreneurship and more.
The Digital Diploma service emerged from the RNP Working Group Program in 2018, with the aim of combating fraud in university diplomas. The solution uses Blockchain, digital certification and document preservation technologies combined to verify authenticity and issue digital diplomas. In 2020, the service began to incorporate the Diploma Validation Portal of the Ministry of Education (MEC).
At the event, other use cases to be tested at RBB were presented, such as PRODEMGE, to track the charcoal production chain in Minas Gerais, in order to ensure adequate management of planted forests and protect native forests; and PUC-Rio, which developed an application in partnership with Petrobras to monitor the chain of custody of oil samples that may be found on beaches on the Brazilian coast.
