RNP signs agreement with PUC-Rio

On Thursday, 9/11, the Brazilian National Research and Educational Network (RNP) has signed an agreement with the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro – PUC-Rio) to enable scientific studies and projects of scientific development for use in innovative applications to RNP customers, and to better use the network infrastructure for the academic community in the areas of ​​health, culture, education, and research.  

The cooperation agreement was signed at a ceremony held at the building of the Tecgraf Institute for Development of Scientific-Technical Software, at PUC-Rio, in the presence of the RNP directors, Nelson Simões, José Luiz Ribeiro Filho, and Wilson Coury, as well as the Tecgraf director, Marcelo Gatass, and the dean of PUC-Rio, Father Josafá Carlos de Siqueira, and also employees of the institute and the educational institution. “Our goal is to develop projects together. This agreement demonstrates our effort to innovate more efficiently and in a better way. We want to further advance the deployment of new network infrastructures”, said Nelson Simões.   

PUC-Rio is one of the institutions that make up the Rio Metropolitan Network, one of the networks that are part of the Redecomep initiative. In the ceremony, PUC’s auditorium was also inaugurated, which was named after prof. Luiz de Castro Martins, former professor of the educational institution.
