RNP takes part in the 14th International Congress of Higher Education, in Cuba
RNP was present at the UNIVERSIDAD 2024 International Congress, held between February 4th and 9th, at the Convention Palace in Havana, capital of Cuba. The event had around three thousand participants, including speaking and non-speaking delegates, ministers, vice-ministers, rectors, directors of international organizations, network presidents, among others. The scientific program of the meeting was developed in seven symposiums composed of 26 workshops.
Representatives from RNP, the director of Engineering and Operations and president of the Board of Directors of RedCLARA, Eduardo Grizendi and the deputy director of the Escola Superior de Redes (ESR) were invited by REDUNIV (Cuban academic network) and actively participated in the programming of the X International Workshop "Digital Transformation and advanced technologies in Higher Education", within the Symposium "Higher Education and challenges for the future: internationalization, digital transformation, financing and informational perspective", which took place on February 7th and 8th.
Grizendi was a speaker on the panel "Disruptive technologies and their impact on Higher Education", exposing the importance of National Research and Education Networks (RNIE) for the development and implementation of this type of technology and its impact on higher education. In particular, he highlighted the role of RedCLARA and RNP within this scenario.
Leandro participated in the panel "Higher Education in cybersecurity: global panorama and perspectives in Cuba", in which he presented the main characteristics of RNP's Escola Superior de Redes and the Hackers Do Bem program. The two directors also participated in several high-level activities with the Minister of Higher Education of Cuba and other national and international authorities.
Collaboration between RNP and REDUNIV
The event reinforced the exchange in favor of collaboration between REDUNIV and RNP. Important aspects of the roadmap for strengthening cooperation between the two networks were reviewed and the main elements for the development of a higher school of networks in Cuba, with a focus on the Caribbean, were identified. For the development of this project, tripartite work between REDUNIV, RNP and RedCLARA is essential.
At the meeting, the development of a model for participation of new networks in RedCLARA was also discussed. For REDUNIV, the participation of RNP directors in the Congress was strategic and it is very important to follow up on the agreed agenda in upcoming events such as TICAL 2024, which will be held from November 3rd to 6th, in Rio de Janeiro.
