RNP will grant scholarships as RD&I incentive
From now on, RNP will grant scholarship to researchers and undergraduate and graduate students working in Research, Development & Innovation projects, who receive our funding. The initiative aims to enable the scholars to get credits in their educational institution, in addition to receiving certificates of participation in the project, in which they work.
In the first implementation phase of the Program, only Research, Development and Innovation projects selected by means of a public call will be eligible. It will be necessary to have a guiding researcher, who is typically the project proponent and who is responsible to select the scholar.
Upon maturity of this model, the idea is to extend it to other RNP RD&I projects. "The idea is this Scholarship Program not to be restricted to Work Groups, but to be adopted more widely,” the Advanced Internet deputy director Leandro Ciuffo said. "It is also important to highlight that the scholarship cannot be applied to provide services", he added.
Also according to the deputy director, the Program was prepared based on similar initiatives of other institutions, which work in this sector, such as INESC R&D Brasil institute and Softex.
After internal inquiry for contributions by RNP collaborators in November, the Program Regulation and the Scholarship Grant and Acceptance Term to be signed with the scholars were approved by the Executive Board. From now on, the new students to be selected to work on RNP RD&I projects, as in the Work Groups, shall be classified as scholars as priority.
