Pioneer of internet access in Brazil and responsible for its implementation in the academic environment in the country, the Brazilian National Research and Educational Network  (RNP) dedicates its efforts to build its own optical infrastructure to expand the connection capacity of universities and research institutes and, at the same time, bring the network to the most distant campuses in the interior of Brazil.

Thus, the the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC) expresses its concern with the possibility of RNP be severely impacted by the financial difficulties of the country in the short, medium and long term.
