You can watch TV Brasil programs through Vídeo@RNP
The Video@RNP portal is enabling the real-time broadcasting of TV Brasil programs. This was possible through a partnership between RNP and the Brazilian Communications Company (EBC), which is now a customer of the TV Signal Broadcasting service. With this, TV Brasil may have greater visibility by expanding its viewers including the portal's users - which had over two million hits in 2017, and the possibility of reducing costs in hiring the band to distribute this content.
"Strengthening the relationship between EBC and RNP gives us the opportunity to take advantage of the organization's infrastructure to improve the dissemination of our content to society. In addition, EBC's mission is to set up, manage and stimulate the Public Television Network, composed of public TV stations and university channels, already present on the RNP portal. We already have a content affinity with university TVs, which, in many cases, broadcast part of our programs and, in others, support us by sending content for us to broadcast. Therefore, I consider this partnership between EBC and RNP to be very natural", said Adriano Adoryan, executive director of EBC's Information and Communication Systems.
The conversations with EBC started in November 2017, and the following month, compatibility tests were carried out and the broadcasting was already in production, along with the updates made on the portal. The process is simple: an internet-connected computer encodes the TV signal from a station and distributes it via the web, from the Digital Video Network (RVD) infrastructure. The server equipment that makes up this network is called reflectors because they act as repeaters of the video being broadcast.
For the RNP´s Service manager, Marcelino Cunha, having TV Brasil as a customer of the broadcasting service is a privilege and a challenge. "We have now in the service a TV with 24-hour programming and demand of high quality and high availability. This will be a good test for our service, in addition to help us continuously improve it", said Marcelino.
