From now on, the 14,000 students and 1,300 teachers of Colégio Pedro II (CPII) will have high availability in the use of Moodle! This is because, on the morning of last Saturday (24/4), the National Education and Research Network (RNP) completed the migration of the school's virtual learning environment to the cloud. On the first school day of the week, the solution can already be used by 436 classes, assisting in the learning of 6,104 subjects.

The action, the first of a series planned through a partnership between RNP and CPII, sought to optimize the user experience on the tool for Remote Education (EaD), which is essential for the institution during the pandemic. The infrastructure previously used, operated by another provider, did not support the high volume of simultaneous accesses and faced unavailability problems. With the migration, the number of application machines where the service is installed grew from one to four, which ensures high availability, supporting approximately 2,000 simultaneous accesses.

Another advantage from the migration to the cloud is the integration with other RNP services: Web Conference, where all remote classes will take place, with up to 140 sessions held simultaneously; and Eduplay, the largest portal of audiovisual content for education and research in Brazil, replacing the previous Video@RNP, which will allow the streaming of classes and on-demand access to recordings.

Nunes, also celebrates the partnership: "In 2021, we started our partnership with Colégio Pedro II (CPII), a centenary federal public institution responsible for the quality education of so many Brazilians. The scope of the partnership provides for the development of actions regarding information security, training of the ICT team, and, a priority at the moment due to remote classes, the Moodle Cloud Service provided by RNP. As a former student of CPII, starting this collaboration, which will certainly be lasting, fostering the process of digital transformation of the institution and, therefore, leveraging the education of new generations, is a source of great pride and will enable more complete integration of the institution with the RNP System."
