ESR holds first workshop in the metaverse

- 25/11/2022

Quality content + innovation. This is the commitment of the Escola Superior de Redes (ESR) to embrace the digital transformation once and for all and strengthen its mission to promote training, professional development and the dissemination of knowledge in Information Technologies (IT). One of the results of this account was put into practice on the morning of 11/23, with the holding of its first workshop in the metaverse, with the theme “OKR Master Bootcamp” and being taught by Tony Menezes, director of Inbound at OBr.global, international business accelerator with expertise and focus on executing go-to-market strategies for startups and organizations looking to accelerate globally.

“The first bootcamp in a fully immersive environment is a great achievement for ESR, which constantly seeks to integrate new technologies that positively affect the user experience”, evaluates ESR's Marketing coordinator, Olavo Calaça.

“The workshop in the metaverse allowed us to experience and, above all, to understand, in practice, this technological trend. During the event, participants also had the opportunity to meet and interact with ESR services and partners. On 11/24, we had an internal workshop by the ESR academic team that brought more inputs for us to understand the opportunities and challenges for positioning in this new global trend”, emphasizes the IT manager of ESR, Renato Duarte

The action was fully supported by Beyondcomm, from support on the platform to customization of the visual identity and operation.

About the OKR Master Bootcamp

The workshop brought up a topic that is on the rise in the corporate world: OKRs (Objectives and Key Results), which are a management methodology widely used by companies in Silicon Valley. In a simplified way, it can be said that it is a formula for defining goals such as “I will” (Objective) “measured by” (set of key results). They were created by former Intel CEO Andrew S. Grove, but became better known when, in 1999, one of Google's investors, John Doerr, presented the methodology to the founders and collaborators. The method gained fame for supporting Google's growth – the company went from around 40 people in 1999 to more than 85,000 today – showing that it can be used by both small businesses and large corporations.

Tony Menezes' presentation aimed to equip managers and employees with a practical understanding of how to apply the methodology within the cultural context of their respective organizations. The Bootcamp helped participants exercise how to define qualitative objectives and identify the quantitative key results that best confirm the objective, in addition to presenting techniques on how to seek and promote greater alignment among all members of the organization.
