Partnership between RNP and LNCC strengthens compliance with LGPD in the teaching and research community
On Tuesday (28), RNP and the National Laboratory for Scientific Computing (LNCC) held a ceremony to present the results of the pilot project to promote compliance with the General Law on the Protection of Personal Data (LGPD). This cooperation is part of the LGPD Program at RNP, which aims to facilitate the adaptation of educational and research institutions to the requirements of the law.
The first edition of the project was held at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), followed by the National Cancer Institute (INCA). For this third edition, LNCC was chosen due to its deep interest in advancing the process of adapting to the LGPD, the maturity it has been developing in the area of security, in addition to the long-standing partnership maintained with RNP in several projects. The institution already has a strong culture in information security, but found in the program a way to strengthen a partnership that enables greater advances.
“Today we are beginning to understand the role of each part of the ecosystem. Our management system is already incorporating privacy, our security committee has been adapted to work with the method and we are managing to coordinate most of the actions with the LGPD. So, it is very gratifying to participate in the project promoted by RNP and thus continue to improve the practical performance of the LGPD within our institution”, highlights Luiz Rodrigo Gonçalves, information security manager at LNCC.
RNP’s LGPD program aims to develop actions related to user privacy, personal data protection and compliance with the LGPD, offering consulting services, methodological support and training. An important part of this initiative is the development of the “RNP Method for LGPD”, which provides resources such as roadmaps, models and best practice guides.
The meeting was attended by Fábio Borges de Oliveira, director of LNCC, Wagner Vieira Léo, coordinator of information and communication technology at LNCC, Bianca Botelho, general coordinator of institutional management at the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), Emilio Nakamura, deputy director of cybersecurity at RNP and other representatives.
During the ceremony, Emilio Nakamura highlighted several actions that RNP has been taking in security and privacy, reaffirming the organization's commitment to the issue. "We cannot forget that we live in a digital world and that information security faces major challenges. Therefore, this project reinforces RNP's mission to create paths and possibilities so that this adaptation can advance in a very responsible way in relation to the data provided and accessed by institutions," he states.
The cooperation between LNCC and RNP includes the exchange of technical information and the organization of adequate means to carry out the project actions, the results of which will be widely disseminated, serving as a reference for other institutions. In addition, this exchange aims not only to facilitate the adaptation of LNCC to the LGPD, but also to continuously improve the RNP Method for LGPD.
"The LGPD pilot project, as well as other actions of the LGPD Program at RNP, goes far beyond supporting a need for compliance with the law, as it reinforces the importance of promoting a culture of privacy and protection of personal data within institutions. Creating privacy governance programs that allow for continuity of actions is becoming increasingly essential", highlights Liliana Solha, manager of special security projects at RNP.
The partnership between RNP and LNCC demonstrates how collaboration between institutions can lead to major advances in the implementation of data protection standards, promoting transparency and benefiting the entire academic and scientific community in the country.
